The pilot site is located in the Pontevedra region in Galicia, Spain. The pilot tests will primarily focus on the N550 road and its surrounding rural network. The area is characterized by its rural non-motorway roads, where the connectivity quality is notably inconsistent due to the diverse geographical terrain.
This location has been chosen due to its representative challenges, including variable network availability, infrastructure management and safety conditions that are critical for the deployment of CCAM services.
The pilot will utilize a range of infrastructure and technologies:
- Connectivity Coverage Heat Maps providing insights into cellular and short-range connectivity, assisting vehicles in making safety-oriented decisions based on the quality of service (QoS)
- Connected probe vehicles equipped with CTAG prototypes to gather real-time data on connectivity performance
- Collected data from:
- Connected vehicle
- Connectivity performance heatmaps
- Driving behavioural evaluation related to CCAM services
- Connectivity network performance

Objectives
- Give information on network quality and service availability, so that drivers can make informed decisions about activating specific CCAM services. For example, notifying drivers of low-latency and high-reliability network coverage areas can encourage them to use cooperative driving features, promoting safer and more efficient road use
- Provide an indicator (or score) of network quality on roads to determine if a CCAM service can be performed or not, so by having a reliable network quality indicator, infrastructure managers can proactively identify areas with insufficient connectivity and take appropriate actions to improve the network coverage and performance, ensuring that CCAM services can be performed safely and efficiently
- Obtain the connectivity parameters on roads to detect the “blind spots” or the zones with poor indicators to be considered to improve the network coverage
Use Cases
Determine in which areas a CCAM service can or cannot be performed and analyze specific improvements for CCAM services, based on:
