Online Workshop – Innovative digital twin solutions for enhanced Road Asset & Safety Management

When: Wednesday, 23 September |10:30 AM (CEST)

Where: Online

Discover how Digital Twin technologies are transforming road safety and infrastructure management. Join experts from the EC-funded EvoRoads, iDriving, and CAMBER projects for an online workshop exploring innovative tools, real-world pilot implementations, and simulation-based validation methods that are helping build safer, smarter, and more resilient roads across Europe.

Road infrastructure Digital Twins, integrated with data from multiple sensing technologies, enable the dynamic quantification of multidimensional safety criteria for automated road maintenance diagnosis and prognosis services. These technologies support a more proactive and data-driven approach to road asset management while contributing to the implementation of the Safe System approach and the EU’s Vision Zero ambition.

This online workshop will provide an overview of the approaches, tools, and data sources developed within the EC-funded projects EvoRoads, iDriving, and CAMBER. Participants will gain insights into the different types of road safety and maintenance interventions under research, the variants being implemented and tested, and the methodologies used to analyse and validate their performance.

During the workshop:

  • iDriving will present its Digital Twin implementation for safety and maintenance environments, from hazard detection to user notification, through test campaigns simulating a range of real-world use cases.
  • CAMBER will outline how interventions are tested and evaluated through simulation campaigns, providing an overview of the methodology used for intervention verification and implementation in pilot sites.
  • EvoRoads will present its Digital Twin solution, its interaction with other project components, and its application in the Turin pilot, showcasing scenarios validated on site using data collected from roadside sensors.

The workshop will offer an opportunity to exchange knowledge, explore complementary approaches, and discuss how Digital Twin technologies can support the future of road asset and safety management across Europe.

Speakers

  • Bernard Kosovec – (Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences – University of Zagreb / Sveučilište u Zagrebu) CAMBER
  • Thomas Bapaume (Université Gustave Eiffel) – iDriving
